With thanks to the authors whose work this site builds upon.

This site is built almost entirely from code written in-house, and it loads no resources from third-party servers — every file your browser requests is served by us. A small number of third-party works are nonetheless included, and this page lists all of them: 1 software library, 5 colour name sets and 2 icon sets. Each entry records its author, version and licence, links to the original project, and reproduces the full text of its licence.

Colour systems that are not included

Individual colour values are measurements of fact, and facts are not subject to copyright. What can carry rights is a curated, named collection. For that reason, Color Tools includes only those collections whose authors have granted a licence permitting reuse, each of which is listed above.

A number of widely used colour systems — among them Pantone, RAL, HKS and NCS — are proprietary and are licensed commercially by their publishers. We have not included them, and we do not use their names within the interface, the underlying data or this site's metadata.

If your work depends on one of these systems, the publisher's own reference materials remain the authoritative source for accurate matching.

How we handle attribution

The MIT and ISC licences both require their copyright notice and permission text to accompany the work. We take that to mean the text must be served to the reader, not merely stored in our source repository, so each licence is reproduced in full on this page.

Where only the values of a colour palette are used, none of that project's source code is included in the site, and the entry above says so. We also maintain an internal engineering record of the exact package version, its origin and a SHA-256 checksum of each file, so that what is published here can be verified against what was actually obtained.

If your work is listed on this page and the attribution is incorrect or incomplete, we would be grateful to hear from you, and we will correct it as soon as possible.
